Joshua and the Animals, with Ambrosius Lamb and Samson the Lion, arm in arm, have found the Holy Family at the stable in Bethlehem. Angels have arrived as well, and the Angel Michael helps them all present the gifts they have brought, by and from each of them. Even mute Timothy Nightingale has found his voice after hearing the Angels sing.
LYRICS
Balthazar:
Come forward, all you man-folk and animal,
give worship to the Princeling before us.
Joshua, Timothy, with your sweet voices
sing Him to sleep, and give Him good rest.
Joshua and Timothy:
Sleep now, baby, in your mother’s arms,
rest awhile before your journey starts.
Close your eyes and let us do
what little things we can for you.
Close your eyes and sleep,
rest and sleep.
With our music let us soothe you,
calm your fears and dry your tears,
and sleep, baby, sleep now,
in your mother’s arms,
sleep, baby, sleep.
All, with Chorus:
With our music let us soothe you,
calm your fears and dry your tears,
(The Angels join them, in singing:)
and sleep now, baby, in your mother’s arms,
rest awhile before your journey starts.
Close your eyes, and let the skies
resound with songs and praise:
let this be your slumber song,
and close your eyes and sleep,
now rest and sleep.
Alleluia! Alleluia!
Hearts full of music, light, and love,
have no room for fear and darkness.
Open portals stand before us:
we shall dwell in joy and kindness forever!
Gloria in excelsis Deo!
Et in terra pax hominibus bonae voluntatis!
Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!
Amen!
