3 1st interlude

Lyrics by Frank DiGiacomo and Julian R. Pace.
Premiere Libretto Artwork by George Klotz.

Led by the Lord General Rooster, and guided by the Nightingale, all the animals depart for Bethlehem, as Joshua plays his harp.
During the Interlude the Nightingale, Rooster, Cow, Goat, and Lamb can be seen, followed by Joshua, traversing the stage, which gradually darkens. They cross it again, and are met and happily joined by other wild Animals: a Deer, a Rabbit, a Squirrel among others as they disappear from view.

    Chorus:
        So to fulfill the promise of promises,
        they danced and sang their way
        through the forests, through the dry deserts,
        through crowded villages, over the mountains,
        and swimming the seas;
        journeying long, waiting and watching
        so to fulfill the promise of promises,
        witness to bear to a meeting of meetings,
        and to celebrate a birth of all births,
        to journey, to watch, to wait and to dance,
        and to sing on a night of nights songs of rejoicing.

        Come all you creatures,
title pg First Choral Interlude        four-footed, two-footed, cloven-hooved, winged,
        fair ones, and fowl as well.
        Come all you creatures, journey to Bethlehem,
        there to give greetings to the King of Kings.

        Dance, all you creatures,
        dance to the music of harp and of cymbal;
        sing out your joy at the birth of the King
        to whom all creatures,
        and mankind and animals,
        and rivers and trees,
        and flowers and rocks,
        and high, lofty mountains,
        and stars and suns and moons shall say:

        Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory! Glory!
        We give you greeting and welcome!
        Come let us welcome our newly-born King!

        Oh, come, and give greeting and welcome,
        our newly-born King!
