in Three Movements
This Suite would seem a departure from Frank DiGiacomo’s usual compositional vocabulary, but it is a reflection of the tastes of musical academe in the mid-1960s. Written in 1965, while the Composer was a student at Syracuse University, it was performed by oboist Daniel Carno and Mr. DiGiacomo at a student convocation as well as other venues. Mr. Carno was a good friend of the Composer, and a fellow student, who luckily preserved the manuscript for the oboe score. Mr Jason Loffredo recreated the piano score from that oboe score and archival audio tape, for which we are very grateful.
The sheet music PDF for the Suite includes both the complete three movements in an oboe-piano score as well as the separate oboe score in one document. Also available is a synth oboe and piano MP3, created from the reconstructed score, as well as a synth piano-only MP3 for rehearsal purposes.
